Covec develops economic models and analyses complex datasets for a wide range of industries including energy, communications, transport, tourism, local government, banking and events. Our modelling assists organisations to forecast markets (supply, demand and price) and to analyse options. It is always carefully designed to be practical, transparent and theoretically correct.

Examples of Our Work:

Development of a transport vehicle fleet model

A model of the vehicle fleet that includes vehicles in size, age, and fuel categories, plus projections of vehicle kilometres. It is used to project future fuel demand and to analyse the impacts of technology shifts and government policy.

Development of an efficient waste management model

Ministry for the Environment (NZ)

A model of the location of landfills in New Zealand, markets for recyclables, waste arisings and costs. It has been used to assess the costs and benefits of recycling.
