Chris SweetmanChris Sweetman

Chris is a graduate from the University of Auckland with degrees in commerce and science majoring in economics, finance, applied mathematics and physics.

Since joining Covec in mid 2007, he has been using his analytical skills to develop quantitative models for a variety of sectors including telecommunications, retail and tourism. Chris’ work has been used to support resource management applications, policy formulation and legal processes.

Benchmarking wholesale broadband prices

Commerce Commission (NZ)

Backhaul refers to the core (backbone) network via which broadband and other services travel. In this project, we used a range of international data to compare proposed local backhaul prices with those overseas. This assisted the Commerce Commission to set an initial price for this service, which is subject to ongoing review and refinement.
